Voicethread in the Classroom

A great educational website I was introduced to last semester that can plan an extremely instrumental role in the classroom is www.voicethread.com. Voicethread is a website in which the author can post pictures, videos, text, and make comments using a microphone, telephone, or audio recording. The author may also allow others to comment on their content. The voicethread project below was used in conjunction with a lesson addressing steps in a process. The activity used to demonstrate following steps in a process was making brownies. This acitivity was completed by 4th and 5th graders in a self-contained mild to moderate Special Education classroom. Each step of the brownie making process was documented and discussed. The voicethread was used to complete the correlating summarizing activity. To review the steps in a process, students viewed each photo and commented on the task taking place. I feel that www.voicethread.com can be used in a multitude of ways. It allows students to make comments on the content so that they can reflect on their thoughts and also allow the teacher to gain insight to the students thought process.
